You could say music runs in his blood. Hailing from a family of illustrious musicians, Dilip took up the tabla at the age of five. He trained under the tutelage of several gurus (including Pt. Prahlad Raj Mokashi and Pt. Laxmeesh Rao), and is one of the world's best tabla players today. A master of the Punjabi Gharana school of tabla playing, he has numerous awards to his name.

It is impossible to imagine Indian classical music without the tabla. This percussion instrument comprises a set of drums called the daaya (the higher pitched of the two drums, to be played with the right hand) and the baaya (the lower toned drum to be played with the left hand). And if you think the tabla is limited, you’re wrong; it is increasingly being used experimentally as a fusion instrument. So you could certainly use your tabla skills to rock ‘n’ roll! Sign up for a class, and create magic!
This class will provide you with a sound introduction to the basics of the tabla. Once you are comfortable with the instrument, you will learn to play a few basic musical phrases, and develop the skills and the temperament to advance to the next level.
