Here's a percussionist who is both accomplished and experienced. With over eight years of teaching experience, Anand has given numerous performances to wide acclaim. He's also an adept vocalist, and sings Hindustani Classical music on occasion. He is particularly known for his emphasis on euphony, and for his meticulous lessons.
It is impossible to imagine Indian classical music without the tabla. This percussion instrument comprises a set of drums called the daaya (the higher pitched of the two drums, to be played with the right hand) and the baaya (the lower toned drum to be played with the left hand). And if you think the tabla is limited, you’re wrong; it is increasingly being used experimentally as a fusion instrument. So you could certainly use your tabla skills to rock ‘n’ roll! Sign up for a class, and create magic!
Don't worry if you're an absolute beginner. This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of the tabla, and will help you increase your comfort level with the instrument. You will also learn to play musical phrases, and develop the discipline and skill to pursue more advanced study.
