It is impossible to imagine Indian classical music without the tabla. This percussion instrument comprises a set of drums called the daaya (the higher pitched of the two drums, to be played with the right hand) and the baaya (the lower toned drum to be played with the left hand). And if you think the tabla is limited, you’re wrong; it is increasingly being used experimentally as a fusion instrument. So you could certainly use your tabla skills to rock ‘n’ roll! This class will introduce you to the basics of the tabla. Learn to play a few musical phrases, and by the end of the course, you will develop the skill and temperament to advance to the next level
