With over two decades of experience as a yoga teacher and researcher, Saraswathi is as accomplished as they come. She trained under Sri TKV Desikachar in the tradition of yogi Sri Krishnamacharya, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Yoga, besides two masters degrees in Psychology and Nutrition. You don't need superhuman flexibility to join this class, as Saraswathi believes that yoga itself is flexible enough to easily fit the needs and abilities of the individual learner. A board member of the Yoga Alliance, she's also one of the rare yogis who aims to modernise the practice by approaching its therapeutic potential in a scientific manner.

You don’t need the flexibility of a gymnast to take a yoga class. Although it’s great for your health, it is not simply a way to get your body in shape. Yoga originated as a philosophy, a path to reaching the pinnacle of contemplation and understanding, and has since branched out into several variants.Modern postural yoga, centred on asanas, originated in the 20th century with the teachings of Krishnamacharya, who developed a blend of wrestling, gymnastics, calisthenics, and hatha yoga. The health benefits of yoga are well-known: it helps you lose weight if you’re looking to, tones your muscles, strengthens your core, keeps you happier, and helps you improve your balance and posture. So if you’re looking for an activity that develops both body and mind, yoga is the way to go!
